Statement re the Charity Commission's press release of September 5th 2008 re the Labour Party Sports Dinner

The Charity identified the event in question as a good opportunity to further the Charity's aims and engage with key stakeholders. The Charity was only able to attend through the generosity of its supporters and at no cost to the Charity. The Charity's reasons for attending the event were to pursue its aims and communicate its messages and were not to support a political party or its objectives

Part of the payment for the event was characterised as a donation to a political party and was incorrectly made by the Charity. As soon as the Charity became aware of the administrative error, the situation was rectified, to the full satisfaction of the Charity Commission.

Schoolfriend etc continues to receive the support of central and local government, schools and parents, as well as other benefactors, as we strive towards our goal of making extended school services attainable for all communities.
