Schoolfriend Clubs make a huge impact not just on the children who attend them, but on their parents, the school and the wider community.

All activities, planned in consultation with children, parents and staff, are designed to give children lots of choice. Children get huge benefit from the high adult to child ratio - one adult to eight children – and get the opportunities to participate in Schoolfriend extra workshops.

Schoolfriend.com is an exciting, interactive bespoke learning system that helps improve numeracy and literacy. For about twenty minutes each night, every child attending a Schoolfriend Club uses the school’s IT facilities to work on the web-based learning programme, Schoolfriend.com.

Parents are always welcome at the clubs and are invited to join in the activities. Where applicable, communications to parents are translated into a variety of languages.

Schoolfriend etc works closely with local Childcare Development Teams and Sure Start Units to ensure that facilities fit in with overall childcare development plans. They also work in partnership with the school and other community agencies to support children with special needs.

The clubs are funded through low cost fees, and via support from local authorities, charitable trusts and other funding sources. Up to 80% of the cost of sending a child to a Schoolfriend Club is reclaimable through Working Tax Credits. Schoolfriend etc help over 90% of eligible parents with children attending Schoolfriend Clubs to successfully claim Working Tax Credits.
