Through the special training division, Schoolfriend tec, and working in partnership with the local EYDCP (Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership), previously unqualified and unemployed individuals can work towards a nationally recognised qualification in Childcare and Playwork.

The training is offered to all Schoolfriend etc employees via on-the-job training, so they reap the benefits of both practice and theory. Courses are also offered directly to schools, local authorities and individuals.

Schoolfriend tec delivers a number of short courses and National Vocational Qualifications in Playwork that will help towards the creation of a skilled workforce. This, in turn, will assist Local Authorities, schools and voluntary organisations in meeting the Government's Extended Schools' Agenda without compromising quality or standards. Schoolfriend tec aims to apply the highest standards of excellence to training and supporting staff so that they can deliver top quality childcare at all times.

The training programme is accepted by OFTSED and focuses on all the skills needed to operate effectively in the Playwork sector. It includes National Vocational Qualifications Level 2 and 3 in Playwork, which are accredited by CACHE, as well as a number of childcare courses including Inclusion in Out of School Settings, First Aid, Out of School Food and Hygiene, Health & Safety, Safeguarding Out of School Provision, Behavioural Management and additional Play courses that support NVQs. We also offer courses to enhance and support an established workforce, looking at specific subject areas like Introducing Children to art, drama, dance and sport.
